I am assuming that is only while programming decoders. And it means a lot of layers of library code, before getting down to the hardware, such as PC sound, USB ports, harddisk etc. It does hoever not make anything faster – especially not start-up of the software. That is in principle a good choice ensuring that it runs on many operating systems. I will have to deal with the rest using Uhlenbrocks somewhat basic software. But there is supposed to be a LocoIO programmer in JMRI. How things are with Loconet programming is until further unknown to me. JMRI seems to be a big library of basic software (programmed in Java) with interface to a lot of different command-stations, a lot of decoder definitions, some decoder programming capabilities, built-in scripting capabilities as well as some more or less unfinished applications for layout visualization, automatic dispatching of trains etc. There seems to be two serious candidates: JMRI that I have already been looking at and RocRail that I have also installed on my PC and has seen “hole through” in. When I drive counterclockwise I want 2l as enter and 2r as in, but, although both routes are shown in the routes tab of the block properties, I can not change them indepently because Rocrail does not distinquish them, Rocrail only looks to the from property, which is identical for both routes. I can drive from 1 to 2 clockwise, then I want sensor 2r as enter and sensor 2l as in event. The attached plan is a very very simple example, a circle with two blocks. When there are two possible routes to go from 1 to 2 it is not possible to define seperate sensor events for these two routes because only the from block information is stored and not also the using route information. The fbevent definition in the block defioniton stores the from block information, but is does not store the route that is used to go from block 1 to block 2. ![]()
